A Guide to a Gleaming Shower

A Guide to a Gleaming Shower

A shower is used to make things clean. So, it's funny that in the process of making you clean, your shower becomes dirty. Over time, soap scum, mold, and dirt can build up on your shower tiles as well as in the grooves of your grout. If you want a gleaming shower, here is how to clean it the right way.

Before you begin cleaning, it is important that you work in a well-ventilated area. Keep doors open and windows open, if your bathroom has any. It is also a good idea to turn on your bathroom fan for extra air flow.

Make sure to read the label on any cleaning product you are using to ensure that it is compatible with the type of tile you have. It is also important to never mix cleaning products. Some chemicals when mixed can produce toxic fumes. So, it is best to avoid mixing different products.

To get all the dirt of soap scum in a better state for removal, run the shower water on its hottest setting for about five minutes. The hot water should soften the grime. Then, lightly scrub the dirty areas with a scrub brush.

Next, spray the entire surface of your shower with your cleaner of choice. Tiles, grout, caulking and all. Allow the cleaning solution to dwell on the surface for at least five minutes before moving on.

After the cleaner has had a minute to sit and work into the grime, you can go in and begin giving your shower a more thorough scrub. Most shower tiles are tough and can handle a good amount of scrubbing but if you have a softer tile like marble, make sure to use a soft bristled scrub brush to avoid damage.

After you are done scrubbing, rinse the surface of your shower. And finally, dry your shower with a microfiber cloth.

If you follow these guidelines, you can be guaranteed to have a gleaming shower. And always remember that the more often you clean your shower, the less effort you will have to put into scrubbing.

Of course, not everyone has the time or energy to give their shower a thorough cleaning, which is where The Grout Medic comes in. We will clean your tiled shower using the greenest cleaning methods possible. Fill out our online request form to get a free quote!
